Since its inception in 1986, the Gurukul has developed towards success through the blessings and kind support of society. Following are the milestones of its journey —

Beginning of Gurukulam
Initial Residential Structure: The project was seeded with 3 huts and 23 students
  • The project was initiated on 21st July 1986 to educate the children of sugarcane workers in the Beed District.
  • The concept and idea generated by Shri. K.D. Joshi (Dada), Pune.
  • Shri. Shankar Genu Bhondve donated seven acres of land near Domri village for this cause.
  • The couple, Shri. Sudam Bhondve (Kaka) and Sau. Sindhu Bhondve (Mami) have dedicated themselves as fulltime workers to this project.
  • The Gurukul flourished under the consistent guidance and efforts of Hon. Nanaji Deshmukh.
  • The project began with only three huts and 23 students. Without any infrastructure like residential accommodations, electricity, water supply, road, manpower and capital.
  • Management of the Gurukul started under Deendayal Research Institute.
  • Administration is carried out by a local committee in the Beed district.
  • The school started without any Government grant money.
  • Land of the Gurukul used for growing fruit-bearing trees and for cultivating vegetables and cattle feed.
  • 30 days ‘Dhanyata Camp’ was organised for 2000 people in May 1987 under the guidance of Nanaji which resulted in the creation of a beautiful lake in the vicinity of the Gurukul.
  • The Gurukul was run in huts for initial 12 years.
  • Basic infrastructure was made available by Deendayal Research Institute in the year 2004-05.
  • The Gurukul was given approval by the Government of Maharashtra in 2004.
  • Good financial support extended by the Mumbai committee under the leadership of Shri. Madhavrao Dandekar. 
  • Sau. Pratiksha Ranade from Pune also extended guidance for financial help.
  • An Ayurvedic pharmacy project started in the Gurukul by renowned Ayurvedacharya, Mr. Khadiwale from Pune. He contributed significantly to health as well as financial matters.
  • Since 2007, to ease administration, the management has been transferred from Deendayal Research Institute to Deendayal Navarachana Pratishthan.
  • About 1500 students from 14 districts of Marathwada, Vidarbha and Western Maharashtra have sought education from the Gurukul.
